Philips reveals Blu-ray plans

Phillips has announcedthe launch of the long-awaited BDP9000 Blu-ray player, which we understand will support 1080p Hi-Def playback and have pretty cool Java-enabled browsing interface for simplcicty.

Press Releases have said that It's due for launch in the US this autumn; sadly in the UK we have to wait until early 2007.

However there will be one Philips Blu-ray device arriving this into England year: the MCP9480i Media Centre PC. The living room-friendly PC has a BD rewritable drive so it can create movies as well as play them, and will connect to an HD Ready television HDMI. Other features will apparantly include Wi-Fi and a 320GB hard drive. It will be on sale in stores and on the web by end of this year.
