Sony PS3 - What went wrong?

Last week Sony launched the new PS3 games system in Japan. The initial 500,000 units selling out within hours amidst the expected long overnight queues and people trampling crowds outside designated stores.

The rest of the world still has a few months to wait for global release so we have time to decide on the cheaper or more expensive system. The one great thing which stands this system aside from Xbox and Nintento is the backward compatibility of games. Something which we would expect to be a standard but only Sony appear to be aware of.

Initial reaction to the system is as expected, the feature rich premium version with built in wireless and 60Gb harddrive are set to set a standar in online gaming. The quality however of the Blu-Ray disc system and the stability of the IBM chip is yet to be seen. Over the next few weeks we will publish user views and opinions. Come back for regular updates.
